Shakib and Mustafiz, by the end of their two-week long quarantine, will join the Bangladesh squad for the three-match home ODI series against Sri Lanka later this month
Bangladesh cricketers Shakib al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman have reached Dhaka on Thursday afternoon from India after taking part in Indian Premier League (IPL) which was suspended due Covid-19 surge in India.
The two cricketers have been arranged a chartered flight from Ahmadabad by their respective IPL T20 teams. Shakib and Mustafizur upon reaching Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka will be straightaway taken to Hotel Sonargaon where they will be in a 14-day mandatory quarantine.
Shakib who played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mustafizur for Rajasthan Royals were put in trouble India after the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended this year’s IPL T20 half-way after at least three franchises reported of Covid-19 cases inside the bio-bubble.
Due to travel restrictions imposed on India and closure of borders Shakib and Mustafizur were in trouble in of getting back home. Then there was also concern that delayed arrival will put availability of the two key members of Bangladesh national team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka later this month in jeopardy.
