Sri Lanka speedster Lasith Malinga, through his YouTube channel has expressed his views on yesterday’s SL v Ban ODI match.
Reviewing the Sri Lankan players’ performance throughout the match, Malinga made some valuable comments on young Sri Lankan batsmen, using his years of experience playing the game.
In his video, Malinga said that Pathum Nissanka who came in to bat at No.3 should have taken the anchor role and shouldn’t have gone for the attacking option at that stage of the game.
He said that it’s important for the No. 3 batsman to hold the innings together.
“A player like Pathum who has performed well in domestic setup should not divert from the role given to him in the team, just because it’s an international match.” He added.
Lasith also went on to say that he personally believes that Sri Lanka didn’t have a pre-plan to counter the Bangladesh spinners in their home conditions, thereby giving 4 wickets to Mehedy Hassan at crucial stages of the game.
