Former Sri Lanka skipper Thillakaratne Dilshan says that he feels it was not the right decision by the selectors to drop many of the senior cricketers from the limited overs team.
Dilshan said that it’s not a correct move to omit all experienced players at once and select an entirely young team in a crucial year where a T20 World Cup is also scheduled to take place.
He added that at least experienced players like Angelo Mathews or Lahiru Thirimanne should have been included in the side to add some balance to the team.
The former skipper expressed these views while participating in the “Late Night Chat show” along with two other former cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya and Russel Arnold.
A former skipper himself, Jayasuriya also endorsed Dilshan’s views and said that suddenly dramatic changes can effect the performance of the team.
