Mahendra Singh Dhoni has stepped down as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise and Ravindra Jadeja is going to lead the side in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The Chennai-based franchise made an official announcement on Thursday (March 24).
“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,” said an official statement from CSK.
Dhoni was retained by the franchise ahead of IPL 2022 for Rs 12 crore while Jadeja was retained for a whopping Rs 15 crore as the first retention.
