Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed that Dilruwan Perera, one of the country’s most successful spinners, has stepped down from his position as a member of the national selection committee. He has taken up a new role as the youth spin bowling coach for Sri Lanka Cricket.

Perera, who played 43 Tests and 13 ODIs for Sri Lanka, claimed 161 Test wickets at an average of 35.9 and was instrumental in several of the team’s memorable victories. Known for his accuracy and ability to exploit subcontinental conditions, Perera also achieved five 10-wicket match hauls in Test cricket.

He is currently in the UAE with the Sri Lanka U-19 team, serving as the acting head coach for the series in the absence of regular head coach Ruwan Kalpage, who is unavailable due to personal reasons.

Following Perera’s resignation, the national selection committee now comprises four members: Upul Tharanga, Ajantha Mendis, Tharanga Pranavithana, and Indika De Seram.
