Sri Lanka Cricket decided to suspend cricketers Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, and Niroshan Dikwella on charges of breaching the bio- bubble while on tour to England and will be withdrawn from the England Tour.
With the three top order batsman unavailable for selections and with Injury to opening batsman Avishka Fernando, Sri Lanka team is in a spot of bother in-terms of selections for ODI series against England which is scheduled to start tomorrow.
Addressing the media, captain Kusal Janith said ‘It’s an issue, we are unable to bring replacements as we are in a bio bubble and we are left with the young players and we will have to play with them”.
Sri Lanka took a 24-player squad for the England tour and with the current availability, selection committee will have an eight player pool of batsmen to choose the team. This pool includes non capped players Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya Lakshan and there’s a high chance that they’ll feature in the ODI series.
