Sri Lankan cricketers has paid tribute to the late politician Mangala Samaraweera.
Former Minister Mangala Samaraweera passed away at age 65 years, while being treated for Covid-19 at a private hospital in Colombo today.
Cricketers expressed their condolences towards Mangala Samareewara who was also a passionate sport fan through their social media profiles.
Roshan Mahanama in a tweet wrote, ‘Mr. Mangala Samaraweera was an ardent fan of sports and I remember talking to him on the flight back home, after winning the World Cup in 1996. He was a very kind & generous person. Sri Lanka has lost a genuine politician – so sad. May he attain the supreme bliss of Nibbana!!’
Adding his condolences, former Sri Lankan skipper Sanath Jayasuriya said, ‘Sad to hear of the passing of @MangalaLK an illustrious politician from my home town Matara who worked tirelessly towards the development of Matara & it’s people. He will be missed as a“True Patriot” May he attain the supreme bliss of Nibbana.’
Along with Roshan and Sanath, many cricketers expressed their condolences to late minister.
