President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has commended the Sri Lanka cricket team for its performance in the series clinching match against South Africa which was played in Colombo yesterday.
Sri Lanka, which won the first One Day International (ODI) match and lost the 2nd, bounced back to win the series 2-1.
The ODI series victory against South Africa was registered after a period of 08 years.
Commenting on the national team’s performance, President Rajapaksa tweeted “a victorious come back of Sri Lanka’s cricket team, scoring a series win against South Africa, yesterday.”
“Congrats and thanks to the team and coach for their commitment to a great performance that gave us so much to be proud of,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa was also full of praise for the Sri Lankan national team and coaching staff.
“What a gutsy performance & a massive victory for the new look #SriLanka team! Brilliant to see the energy & enthusiasm of this young team.
