Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by 33 runs to win the first ICC T20 World Cup warm-up match.
Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field against Sri Lanka in the warm-up match played in Melbourne, Australia.
Sri Lanka scored 188 for a loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Kusal Mendis contributing with a splendid knock of 54 from 29 balls.
Wanindu Hasaranga scored 37, while Pathum Nissanka score 21, and Dhananjaya de Silva, Dhanushka Gunatileke, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 17 runs each.
Brad Evans, Ryan Burl, Sikandar Raza, Wesly Madhevere, and Milton Shumba bagged one wicket each for Zimbabwe.
Chasing a target of 189, Zimbabwe fell short with 155 for a loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Wesley Madhevere scored 43 off 42 balls, while Milton Shumba scored 32, and Craig Ervine and Regis Chakabva contributed with 23 and 20 runs respectively.
Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana and Chamika Karunaratne were the key wicket takers, bagging 2 wickets each, while Dhananjaya de Silva took one wicket.
